ARCANUS HALF-ORC
Arcanus half-orcs are a breed of half-orc that show an affinity to magic early in life. Most orcs that exhibit magical aptitude are overlooked and mocked by their orc brethren due to the fact that arcanus orcs are not natural fighters. This is especially true of half-orcs, who are generally shunned or outright killed by orcs. They are usually smaller in size, do not possess the strength of other orcs or half-orcs, and in most orc societies, strength is equated with power. The arcanus orcs tend to leave their home early and seek to study in either solitude or among open-minded scholars who will train them in the magical arts. They prefer civilized areas, which opens up the possibility for them to find a non-orc mate, and produce an arcanus half-orc. They like cities, they are more comfortable in a library than in an arena, and they do not share the blood lust or ferocity of other orcs or half-orcs.
STATISTICS
APPEARANCE
The only aspects of orcish blood that arcanus half-orcs inherit are some secondary physical characteristics. In terms of body proportions, they vary much like humans in build. Like their orc parents, they have tusks, thick-nailed fingers, and sometimes glowing eyes. Otherwise, they take after their human parents.
PERSONALITY
Arcanus half-orcs are the most civilized of all half-orcs. This may be because they depend on the human culture in which they were born and/or raised. They are not ruled by their baser emotions, although they may still inherit some minor tendencies for these things. They are also unusually perceptive for half-orcs, often preferring silent observation than speech on their own part.
ALIGNMENT
Arcanus half-orcs do not have any specific alignment, however, they tend toward chaotic neutral.
SOCIETY
The vast majority of arcanus orcs never reach adulthood. In fact, it’s rare for them to be allowed to live much past birth; as soon as their parents realize what they are, they are usually slain. Those who somehow manage to live long enough to take basic care of themselves escape their homes and either establish their own small communities or join human settlements. This leads to arcanus half-orcs adopting the typical human customs into which they integrate. Obviously, human societies that are more accepting of orcs in general will be more likely to accommodate arcanus half-orcs, but there are no cultures in particular that are known for this.
FAVORED PROFESSION:
Arcanus half-orcs most often become mystics. They also make good artisans and nomads. It is rare for them to pursue the paths of the entertainer or warrior.
ENEMIES:
Arcanus half-orcs are the least naturally hostile towards specific races of all half-orcs, although elves and dwarves tend to view them in a negative light, which can impact the how they interact with one another.
