WATER DJANN
Prior to the Great War of the Djinn, the water djinn were a true and total force of nature in all things. They resided on the Plane of Water. Their free nature appeared to most to be chaos driven, but it was deeper than that. They held a truly centric belief of their superiority over others, and their actions often made little sense to those around them, which gave the appearance of chaos. In truth they leaned more toward neutrality, and they believed themselves to be the greatest djinn of all, and the rightful rulers of all djinn races. Thalathys, the great underwater metropolis, was ruled by Zilai, a djinn who, like most water djinn, collected and adorned himself in opulent gems and finery. He had, at all times, a dozen nobles and servants at his beck and call. The ancient texts told him that, in time, he would be the ruler to unite all djinn under one ruler. It was this belief that would open the door for the elemental wizards to capture and enslave the djinn rulers during the Great War of the Djinn.
The Plane of Water was their greatest asset in their defense against the elemental wizards, and their ability to survive at great depths fed their belief that they were untouchable by others. Unfortunately, Zilai, in his desire to be the one ruler of all djinn, opened up the secrets and access to the great metropolis. Utilizing the information, secrets and access shared by Zilai with Iquia, the elemental wizards easily defeated the water djinn.
The water djinn that fled to Hyboria took well to the natural bodies of water and the great oceans and seas. They built upon and used the human myths surrounding things like mermaids and sirens to hide their true selves. A great number of them found at least some comfort amongst the sea elves they found, but it was difficult to hide their truth for too long, and more often than not, they would venture in, stay for short periods of time, and then leave again before their true identity was learned.
Due to their hatred for the land and their affinity to the water, most water djann can be found on islands, beaches and coastal regions of Hyboria.
