EARTH DJANN
Prior to the Great War of the Djann, the earth djinn never really cared for any of the political machinations of the djinn. Their massive kingdom on the Plane of Earth housed more inhabitants from beyond their native plane than all of the other djinn combined. Their leader, Yekoz the Grand, ruled Rubyvale with an iron first, his evil nature readily apparent in all actions he took. It was regular practice for earth djinn to be summoned by those on the prime material plane to perform tasks and duties, which the earth djinn readily undertook because, more often than not, the mortals were unaware of how to formulate their deal and this opened the door for them to be taken as slaves and put to work in the mines. As a result, Rubyvale boasted the largest number of non-djinn slaves in all of the elemental planes. This also gave the earth djinn a uniquely superior understanding of mortals, how they work, and how best to manipulate them for their own means. As was true with the other djinn, Yekoz had little inclination or reason to venture out beyond the Plane of Earth.
Following the imprisonment of Yekoz by the elemental wizards during the Great Djinn War, the earth djinn retreated into their mines and strongholds. Of all the djinn, they held out the longest due to their heavy fortifications and stubborn nature. They called upon their mortal slaves to try to fight the elemental wizards, which helped them better understand the nature of their enemy. Unfortunately, their harsh treatment of their slaves prior to the Great War would prove to be their undoing. Several of the slaves, eager to escape their bonds, opted to assist the elemental wizards in exchange for their freedom. Centuries of a delegating what they considered non-essential duties to the slaves allowed the slaves to provide access to the stronghold and mines. Once the betrayal occurred, it took little time for the wizards to defeat the final holdouts.
Earth djann are the descendants of the earth djinn that fled the Plane of Earth following the Great War. As with all djann, earth djann are born to two human parents and they are generally several generations removed from the actual djann of their ancestry. Most who mated with a djann did so without knowing their partner was a djann, and more often than not, once an offspring was conceived, the djinn vanished and had no further contact. Due to the evil nature of earth djann, it was just as likely, however, that the human fled the often abusive and one-sided relationship.
